Flash backs, Lessons of History

History repeats itself because it’s story of human nature, it’s a story of human blunders and errors, man achievements and glories. Those who don’t learn from history are condemn to repeat the mistakes committed in past and become examples themselves for coming generations.
The year is 1258; the great Mongol army has invaded Baghdad, the Caliph Al-Musta'sim-Billah Abu-Ahmad Abdullah bin al-Mustansir-Billah was deluded by promises from his Vizier that the Mongols could be driven off literally by the women of the city throwing stones at them, and did the worst of all things: nothing. He neither raised an army to defend Baghdad from the largest Mongol army ever assembled nor tried to prepare the nation for it. His days went in fun and night with pleasures and his city famous for Shia- Sunni , Shafai - Hanfi conflicts and debates on Fiqh and Philosophies was sleeping and enjoying worldly enjoyments on the other hand two Mongols in ten were conscripted into the forces advancing on the Caliphate. Caliph was so much confident and care free about this great threat that he even did not attempted to negotiate with Hulagu Khan. Instead he sent weak threats to the Mongol warlord.
Baghdad was sacked on February 10, the caliph was captured alive. He asked his captors for food and they presented him diamonds and precious stones upon which he cried “what is it, its not food” on his complain Mongol general replied “you ruled for these worth less stones now eat them, if you could have been a good ruler you would have invested these on your nation building and army, you thought your wealth will save you, now suffer because you are getting what you sowed”. Caliph was massacred by Hulagu Khan soon afterwards. It is reckoned that the Mongols did not want to shed "royal blood," so they wrapped him in a rug and trampled him to death with their horses .
Again history repeated it self, same blunder is being committed by Muslim elite and ruling class but this time place is Granada .The year is 1489, the last Muslim monarch of Granada, Abu Abdullah Muhammad XII is summoned by Ferdinand and Isabella to surrender the city of Granada and on his refusal it is besieged by the Castilians. Eventually, on 2 January 1492, Granada is surrendered. At one side of road Abu Abdullah and elite courtesans and those who can afford to leave are leaving the city , on the other side of road the victorious Ferdinand and Isabella, king and queen of Castile and Aragon and their armies are coming with high morale and cheering. Suddenly Abu Abdullah stops and looks back at Alhambra and his city which he inherited from his fore fathers and busts into tears. He is weeping when suddenly he feels a hand on his shoulders he turns and sees his mother standing with hard face. She gives a hard look to her son and says “Son when you have failed to save your kingdom like a man now don’t embarrass me further by crying like a woman when it’s of no use”
History has witnessed rise and fall of great states it has shared the regrets and tears of dieing nations and joys and laughter’s of victorious. History is a teacher according to Hegal "What experience and history teach is this - that people and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it. " history is also economics in action3. An economy which collapses due to greed and power hunger of elites and ruling class who in lust for power forgets that only balance and compassion towards the non elite working class is a magic which will consolidate their powers. It tells about the blunders committed by rulers and elites for their short term benefits.
History also tells that the lust for power and wealth not only sucks out the character and morality of elites but also from the nation, hence eating the very foundation of National power of a state like termites.
1857 the year of failed war of independence of India marked the great debacle of Muslims in Sub continent. As a result of this war, two categories of Muslims were made. The first was those who resisted British and their civilization and the modern education and gathered around religious Ulemas and the other who tried embrace modernity. Among the second group a big majority was of people who in order to succeed crossed every limits and started questioning their own identity. These people were the realists in Hobbisian way. They tried their best to please the new masters and in return got huge land holdings for their services.
In 1905 Muslim league was formed by the people with western education but also with pain for state of the nation. They worked hard and at last In 1947 Pakistan was born. It was a dream of Muslims of South Asia for which they sacrificed their wealth, relatives and every thing they held dear. But unfortunately those who had lost nothing in this freedom struggle came to power. It’s interesting to note that Muslim league which was short of leaders got a huge bulk of leadership after 1946 due to nationalization statement by Pundit Jawaher Lal Nehru. Those feudal who were opposing creation of Pakistan became the big champions of Pakistan movement. In end the sacrificing Muslims lost and these feudal succeeded. These feudal succeeded to safe guards of their property and making more property by eating the flesh and drinking blood of those who sacrificed. And those founders of this newly ideological state who had big share in its creation died orphaned death like death of Quaid. Pakistan became a toy in the hands of British trained and western influenced establishment and political juggernauts. They exploited the country and people like imperial masters. They never allowed Pakistan, a dream to become a reality. Many times they raped the nation in name of democracy, which became government of elite by the elite for the elite for their benefit and some time they did it in name of national interest [which for them was their self interest].
Like it happened 1492 over leaders wept in 1971 when Indian forces forced East Pakistan to become Bangladesh. But like Abbasids the rulers and establishment learned nothing, from fall of kingdom of Khawarzem. Same old game of raping nation and corruption in name of authority continued. Like rulers of Moorish Muslim states our leaders supported enemies and sowed the seeds of distrust amongst their own masses for benefit of enemies and for short term interests of theirs. Our leaders and elite although highly educated learned nothing from the history. They fought American Jihad and crated jihadies and earned dollars in this process and when same jihadies which they created became enemies of modern day imperials they started earning again by giving their [jihadies] dead bodies or handing them over to modern day imperials.
At a time when modern day Imperial is threatening us with drone attacks and boots on ground ...and when need of hour is solidarity with government...our FREE JUDICERY and some political elements are trying their best to de-stabilize the political environment and score points. I am no Zardari lover but I am with Zardari at this time and believe who ever is conspiring against the government is enemy of Pakistan who wants to score points without realizing the geo strategic ground realities.
President should be trailed but this is not the right time. Give him and his government a chance and don't play in hands of enemies. And some body tell the gods of power that people sacrificed for them not to make conditions which destroy them.
At present due to miss management and debauchery of our strategic elite the common Pakistani is losing faith from the dream of Pakistan. The way our elite is behaving and acting on direction of out siders it is becoming very difficult for average man to survive. With inflation and shortage of basic food items, load shedding, unemployment and law and order situation prevailing in the country, people are getting psycho and highly frustrated. Due to the difficulty in day to day survival the morality and character of nation is declining day by day. On the other hand situation in Balochistan and FATA where our elite is trying to implement their writ like imperial masters is proving counter productive and sub nationalist passions are on the rise in all the provinces which them selves are manifesting the failure of this elite. These elite find it very convenient to blame the suffering of nation on foreign powers, opposition and global environment to hide their blunders. The cancer of their moral and physical corruption which is eating the nation is never seen by them. Today when like the time of fall of Baghdad when different threats are hovering on our heads they say every thing is fine and will be ok. Their VIZIRS are telling them to commit more blunders.
Alas there is no mother to tell our rulers and elites that it will be a big embarrassment for them to weep like women when they will fail to save the country from the destruction for which only they are responsible.

Obama's Troops surge, The Greater Game Part III

President of United States of America, Barak Obama announced his new Afghan troops surge and Strategy in his address to cadets at West Point military Academy on 1st December 2009.  In his address he announced sending 30000 troops to Afghanistan and appealed NATO countries also to send more troops.

According to statements coming from US is sending troops to Afghanistan for defeating Taliban and also training Afghan National Army. The first contingent will be deployed before Christmas this year.

Although Obama said in his speech that US forces will start withdrawing in 2011 but high ranking US officials including Sectary of States Hillary Clinton has categorically said that its expected year of American withdrawal, realistically troop withdrawal will depend upon situation. If situation worsen this can be delayed for years.

American officials have made it clear that they think Al Qaeda and Taliban have sanctuaries in Pakistan. They have specially pointed towards FATA and Balochistan where they think Al Qaida and Taliban leadership is hiding.

Americans have threatened Pakistan that now they will pursue Taliban and Al Qaeda into Pakistan and drones will hit Taliban in Balochistan and Other settled areas. They say Although Pakistani forces have achieved remarkable success against TTP but it is unwilling to hit Haqqani Network and Quetta Shura, which according to them are threat to American interests in Afghanistan.

Interestingly US officials have ruled out any nation building efforts in Afghanistan. American troops will only concentrate building ANA and fighting Taliban.

Without going in further details I will discuss what possible game is and what will be possible reactions from other big players in the region.

First thing which we understand from policy statements coming from Pentagon and white house is that America is not leaving Afghanistan in next 10 or 20 years. We will see permanent American bases here even if at all US withdraws its some troops in 2011 or when ever.

Looking at the map, which I will call chess board, we see, US CENTCOM headquartered in Qatar with bases in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan and also in Azerbaijan, and other central Asian Countries having full eyes on Russia, China and other important countries.. (For further details see Obama's Troops surge, The Greater Game Part I).

China and Russia are emerging powers competing with US, and then there is Iran delicious minerals filled state but not obedient to US and west.

World’s second largest oil and gas reserves are present in Central Asia, keeping Peak oil in mind, , race is for oil reserves (see WAR ON TERROR, WAR MANY DON’T KNOW). In words of one of my friend, Mid East and Central Asia are two Weights of Power Dumbbell, where as Pakistan and Afghanistan is the rod joining the weights. Whoever holds this dumbbell holds it through Pakistan and Afghanistan. Whoever holds this dumbbell is the most Powerful in the world.

US interests in Afghanistan and Pakistan are permanent as said many times by American officials. Due to these interests we will not see Americans withdrawal from Afghanistan. According to some senior analysts, US bases in Bagram and Punisher valley will remain even if US and NATO withdraws, because with these Bases, US check on Regional powers will enable it to checkmate moves and counter moves of competing powers. .

The best example is recent rioting in Xingjian. Uliger Rioting in China’s province of Xangiang recently was caused by instigation of Non Residential Chinese Uliger residing in US this year.  Many Chinese analysts accused US instigating rioting in Urmaki. Some Analyst thinks it was a warning to china over its interests in Afghanistan.

Why US will keep Basis in Afghanistan gets another argument when we see resurgence of Russia. In 2008 first time after Cold war Russian forces engaged outside forces to protect vital Russian interests.  Russian Government accused that US and NATO forces along with military contractors and American mercenaries participating in war against Russia on the side of Georgia. Although US EUCOM denied its involvement but it’s a fact that Americans gave every support which Georgia asked for.

Russian action in 2008 war with close American ally in Europe explains that US needs to encircle and have close military presence near Russia. American Permanent Bases in Bagram and Punjsher will play important role in this strategic central Asian region.

As for Pakistan, Pakistan has sacrificed more than US and NATO combined in Afghanistan. Pakistan is the main victim and also the major ally of US in this war on Terror. Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan, which Pakistani Forces are quite successfully neutralizing through military operations in Swat, Malakand, Aurak zai, Kurram and SWA was result of US occupation and Criminal discrimination with Pashtuns.

Unfortunately Obama or any other US official has said nothing about reoccupying Nuristan and Luger from where US troops left in such a hurry that they left their weapons to be used by Taliban.  Reports coming from Bajor says that Taliban activates are increasing. This is exactly what Zia Ur Rehman, Taliban Commander in Nuristan’s spokesman said to Asia time’s correspondent...

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, a militant linked to Rehman said that now that they had control of Nuristan, the militants are "marching towards Mohmand and Bajor to help their fellow Taliban fighting against Pakistani troops", referring to two tribal agencies across the border.

Anti American sentiments are on rise in Pakistan. A common Pakistan sees America as an imperial power responsible for mess in the region. The so called US drone strikes which American administration says will increase have killed more civilians then Taliban or AL Qaeda operatives. According to New York Times

Press reports suggest that over the last three years drone strikes have killed about 14 terrorist leaders. But, according to Pakistani sources, they have also killed some 700 civilians. This is 50 civilians for every militant killed a hit rate of 2 percent— hardly “precision.”

US military and Civilian leadership are threatening hot pursuit and across the border strikes in Balochistan and NWFP. Pakistani Balochistan is facing low level insurgency since 2003. At this moment there are only hostile sentiments in some ethnic Baloch sectors. Whereas, Pashtuns who are second largest ethnic group in Balochistan have remained peaceful and cooperating. The areas which American officials claim to be sanctuaries are Pashtun areas. Any US attack on Balochistan will create troubles for US which they in heat of emotions are not realizing. Attack on Pashtun areas will militarize the Pashtun society of Balochistan and will not help US in any way.

Secondly it will make ISAF supply line very vulnerable. ISAF supply uses two crossings 1st from Balochistan ‘s Chaman crossing point and other from Khyber’s Tourkham. Last year due to terrorist attacks on NATO supply, ISAF had to face hardships. Then due to US commando Action in SWA on 3rd sep 2008 Pakistan reacted very furiously Pakistani FM called the  US raid on an Angoor Adda village bordering Afghanistan is ‘regrettable, shameful and surprising’,Pakistan stopped NATO supply for few days and it made them NATO to assure that thing will not be repeated. Then again on 22nd September 2008 US and NATO helicopters again tried to enter Pakistani territory but were fired upon by Pakistani forces and they decided to return.

This time things will be different. Although militarily it will not be possible for Pakistan to retaliate but American life line that is line of supply could be blocked. Any lawlessness caused by American stupid action will ultimately damage American and ISAF supply line.

Pakistan has time and again asked US to provide real time intelligence about so called Quetta Shura .Only once they gave some information on which arrests were made and few suspects were killed in exchange of fire.

There is a strong feeling in Pakistan that US is pursuing a policy of deception to achieve its strategic interests. A common Pakistani asks when the provinces like Qandahar, Nuristan, logar and Khost provides safe heavens for Taliban, and US itself reckons that they have no writ there then why should Mullah Omar or other Taliban seek refuge in Pakistan. When US withdraw leaving behind their weapons in strategic provinces like Nuristan then why should the leaders of Taliban hide in Pakistan, which has given results against militants?

If US attacks on suspected targets in Balochistan, situation created will be a threat to Chinese Interests. Pakistan is a strategic ally of China; China has invested billions of Dollars in Gawader and Sandek projects.  De-stability in Balochistan due to any American aggression will effect Chinese interests and will be considered as aggression towards Chinese Interests by Chinese. We must remember 48 % of American treasury bonds are property of Chinese.

US is pointing Haqqani network. What is Haqqani network? It got his name from Jalaluddin Haqqani, an important US ally in Afghan jihad against Soviets (Please see Rambo III to know American relations with Militants in that era) Haqqani network is based in Khost not in NWA. They have freedom in Khost and support in Pashtun areas of Paktia and Paktika. Instead of making Khost safe, US is blaming Pakistan. BTW Pakistani government acted against Haqqani in 2005 and forcefully closed Madrassas which have influence of Haqqanies.

US public should understand that mess in Afghanistan and Pakistan is due to US and NATO forces and their Policies. (For Afghan Situation see Obama’s Troops surge, The Greater Game Part II). To defeat Taliban, US must win Pashtuns. The Afghan army which they are so proudly creating is commanded by non Pashtuns and is overwhelmingly constituted by non Pashtuns. This discrimination at every level with Pashtuns is taking its toll and a militant movement has turned into ethnic movement.

This troop surge will be taken negative by common Pashtuns. Especially the deployment plan tells that war will be fought with Pashtuns on either side of border.

On other hand Indian and American interests have proved to be one in Afghanistan. Obama’s troops surge is a big victory for Indians.  India is developing Chahbahar port in Iran and roads through Afghanistan to central Asia and developing schools and hospitals around the roads in Afghanistan linking Central Asia . India also has only one military base outside India and that is in Central Asia.

Sitting in Afghanistan ,India is also involved in Terrorism in Balochistan. Recently Pakistani forces have captured 4 trucks carrying Indian Arms . Interestingly before capture of these trucks Shashi Tharoor, Indian Minister of State for External Affair said in an interview that Pakistani nuclear weapons are safe . But immediately after the recovering of Indian Arms the statement changed and Indian foreign ministry spokes women said that they have fear that Pakistani Nukes can fall in militant hands.

India and Iran wants Chahbahar to be of overwhelming importance. For that they see Gawader port, which is on the mouth of Strait of Hurmaz as a threat. India sees itself as a dominant power in south Asia and wants to dictate to its neighbors. Pakistan on other hand don’t reckon this Indian wish. Pakistan is also a strategic ally of China, which is also a thorn in Indian and American eyes. China has invested billions of Dollars in Gawader and Sandek projects. Baloch rebels are hitting only Chinese people in Balochistan where as Americans or Australians are free to roam around in Balochistan which tells who are guideing rebels ( for further details see Obama does his Bush impression and Balochistan is the ultimate prize ).

India sees Gawader as a big threat because Gawader means Pakistan in control of Gulf and Central Asian oil and trade routes. This port will give a big leverage to Pakistan over India.

Iran on other hand is seeing US presence as a threat . Keeping in mind its nuclear program and American stance Iran see US presence as direct threat to its security. Iranians have time and again accused Americans for sponsoring Terror in its Sistan and Balochistan Province and in other provinces like Khuzestan, Kurdistan and Azerbaijan. Americans are giving free hand to Mujahideen e Khalaq from Iraq. In my past essay I tried to prove that Israel will attack Iran as dictated by its strategic culture and US as its protector will help her to do so.
China is one of the main stake holders in this conflict. Al though it’s facing extremism in Xinxiang province but it is not looking US presence positively. China is a super power and main competitor of America. US and china both have eye for central Asian oil reserves. Unfortunately US is looking for help from India but is not inviting SCO to contribute and play its role to stabilize the region. Recently Taliban sent letter to SCO. According to Times of India

the Taliban sent a letter to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)

meeting in Beijing on Wednesday to ask the regional body to intervene and solve the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. the China-Russia-CIS combine against the United States, highlighting the general perception that the SCO is intended to keep the US out of the Central Asian region.

China has invested thousands of Dollars of its tax payers in central Asian oil and gas reserves. It  sees alien American presence in Afghanistan as a direct threat. In globalize world anything which happens in region effects china and its economy. Secondly American presence in Afghanistan means that US and its ally India has completed the encirclement of China which no body in china likes.

Then there is Russia which had to fight US proxies in Georgia last year over KEEHAN – BAKU pipeline to safe guard its interests. US presence in its area of Influence is not seen well come by Russians. That is the main reason for growing relations of Russia with Pakistan.

European Union is also one influential actor. France and Germany both have proved reluctant to send more troops in Afghanistan. American unilateralism and demand for sacrifices for its interests from its allies seems to have less effect in EU. EU is emerging as a big economy and has its own strategic perceptions and approaches.

Summing up the whole essay, US will not leave its bases from Afghanistan   if US and NATO do not address Pashtun grievances the situation will remain same. Present US strategy was not constructed on keeping in mind the interests of other major Players like China, Russia and SCO.

For peace in Afghanistan, SCO can play and Important role. So far no body has invited it to play its role. At present American economy is in worst condition. Need of time is not realism but compassion and understanding towards problem in south Asia.

Give Respect, Get Respect

Americans think they are masters of the world. In past few months Pakistan has witnessed many incidents in which American embassy officials and other officials acted like masters and above the law of Pakistan.

In one such incident in Islamabad, a private American security person even took out his arm against a Police officer and abused the Pakistani nation.

Day before yesterday. American consulate officials refused to identify themselves in Lahore and acted without dignity as they were masters. Military police took them with them and when their mind came to right place they identified themselves and on confirmation from embassy were allowed to go.

ISLAMABAD, Dec 10: American diplomats have once again ignored the security cordon around the capital city, but this time they were made to apologise, police officials told Dawn on Thursday.

A black Land Cruiser, carrying license plates reading GB 0332, was signaled by security personnel to stop at a checkpoint on the Kashmir Highway Tuesday evening, but the driver sped away.

The Saddar circle’s sub-divisional police officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Capt (retired) Liaquat Ali Malik, who was present at the picket, chased the four-wheel drive with his staff and intercepted just short of the Islamabad Toll Plaza.

As the driver again hit the gas, but police officers’ drawn pistols made the diplomat give up the race.

ASP Malik approached the vehicle and asked the two occupants to come out and let the police search them and their vehicle. However, the foreigners refused the request and introduced themselves as senior American diplomats, presenting their embassy-issued identification cards and the original diplomatic registration plates for the vehicle.

During the episode, the diplomats misbehaved with the police and also made phone calls to some officials, including their embassy’s security supervisor.

The ASP was also asked to talk to the supervisor, who asked him to allow the diplomats proceed but ASP Malik refused.

Later, some senior Pakistani officers approached the ASP and directed him to let the diplomats move forward.

In reply, ASP Malik insisted that they would be allowed to proceed only if they tendered an apology to the police personnel and agreed to physical search.

After a few moments, the diplomats received a call and they let the police search them and their vehicle.

They along with the ASP returned to the checkpoint, where they apologised to the security personnel.

I salute the ASP on duty who did what made the nation Happy and proud of our Police. Our law enforcement agencies should not show any kindness to these people when they break or law or try to be funny with our agencies. The only rule is GIVE RESPECT AND GET RESPECT

Obama’s Troops surge, The Greater Game Part II

Obama’s new strategy has come out in Public. According to this strategy the war is shifting to Pakistani territory because American establishment believes that top Al Qaeda leader ship is hiding in “SAFE SANCTURIES”. US officials have revealed that now drones will also strike Targets outside Tribal areas of NWFP province and into Balochistan province of Pakistan into settled areas.

According to this new strategy Obama administration is sending 30 thousand more troops to Afghanistan. According to New York Times amongst these troops a marine brigade will be deployed into Helmand where few months ago US and ISAF staged a failed operation code named OPERATION KHANJER.  Another brigade will be sent to Qandahar, which is a province from where Taliban movement originated and considered to be strong hold of Taliban and population hostile to occupational forces.

One brigade will be deployed in provinces of Khost, Paktia and Paktika, which borders Pakistan’s North and South Waziristan agencies. One forth of these troops will be used to train Afghan National Army.

Interestingly no report has emerged in media about deployment of NATO or US forces in Nuristan Province, from where US withdrew its forces leaving behind arms and ammunition  and where Taliban from Tehrik-e-Taliban  Swat, Bajor and Mohmand are regrouping to restart their war in SWAT, BAJOR and MOHMAND agencies.

What will be effect of this surge? Before answering this question first we have to refresh our memories about what happened in past and what is the ground situation.

American invasion of Afghanistan came as a result of terrorist strikes on World trade center and Pentagon.  The available evidence led the investigators towards Afghanistan where the group responsible for these attacks “AL QAEDA” was Based and had training infrastructure.  Al Qaeda and its Chief Osama Bin Laden came to Afghanistan before the arrival of Taliban on invitation of Then Afghan president Barhanuddin Rabbani but after the takeover of Afghanistan by Taliban became important allies of Taliban due to their wealth and superior ideology which filled the vacuums in inferior Taliban ideology. Due to wealth soon Osama bin Laden became son in Law of Mullah Muhammad Omer which resulted in influence of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Taliban or students were a reaction to  miseries of people created by  Lawlessness and insecurity  due  civil war  and  rule of  war lords  and  criminals who came to power after Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan.

In beginning of Taliban   were welcomed by Afghans. They thought that they were the saviors of oppressed by soon after they developed relations with Al Qaeda ,things changed and people started turning against them. Taliban movement originated in Pashtuns and soon Islamists from different ethnicities joined them.

Taliban to some extent changed age old social system of Pashtun tribes.  Advancement in Taliban ranks depended on talent not on blood line. This system challenged the tribal Pashtun elites. Taliban were dominated by Gilzai Pashtuns which resulted in opposition of Abdali tribes who have dominated Afghan politics through ages.

After the arrival and alliance with Al Qaeda, Taliban movement changed enormously.  Al though they controlled 95 % Afghanistan, they were opposed bitterly by Alliance of Different ethnic  and religous groups popularly known as Northern Alliance. This alliance was alliance of criminals, people like blood thirsty General Dostam was Uzbek. He was famous for his lust and thirst for blood and cruelty. Ahmed Shah Masood was the main leader , a tajik from Panjsher, whose boss at a Time Barhanuddin Rabbani invited OBL to Afghanistan and who was equally responsible for carnage in Post Soviet Afghanistan.  Then there were Hazaras, a Shia minority race in Afghanistan descendent of Mongols.  And criminals and drug traffickers from all races who thought Taliban threat to their rule.

After 911 US asked Afghanistan to hand over Al Qaeda terrorist. Taliban asked for evidence which US provided them but Taliban in their innocence or stupidity were convinced by OBL that US was bluffing to achieve its strategic interest to invading Muslim land   and it was not possible for them to execute such attacks.

After Taliban refusal to hand over OBL and His gang, US launched operation against Taliban regime. US reaction was natural but in rage it decided to allay itself with Criminal drug and war lords of Northern Alliance.

Pashtuns are the biggest ethnic group of Afghanistan and traditionally they ruled Afghanistan. Northern Alliance was dominated by Tajiks and other ethnic groups.  Al though US installed Hamid Karzai, the new prime minister who is Pashtun by ethnicity, the main ministries were given to Northern Alliance. This resulted in under representation of biggest ethnic group and over representation of minorities. This contributed already sensitive Pashtun Population who saw, themselves to be on receiving end only due to being member of ethnic group which happened to be that to majority of Taliban.

Americans and its allies relied on Northern Alliance who now had opportunity to take vendetta from Pashtuns which they failed to take from Taliban. Thousands and Thousands of Pashtuns were killed and as reported by Independent human right organizations  a genocide of Pashtuns took place especially in North of Afghanistan with courteous help from western Allies of Northern Alliance. US could have done excellent if it held checks on northern alliance by it did not and lost Pashtuns due to its faith and dependence on criminals and war lords.

One thing which should not be forgotten is that majority of Pashtuns celebrated the demise of Taliban regime. But in year and so the same Pashtuns who celebrated the Taliban demise started joining Taliban resistance.  With every innocent dead due to collateral damage or wrong over whelming use of high handed tactics by ISAF or Northern alliance dominated Afghan government  support in Pashtun areas for Taliban increased. Recently the Tajik senior ANA officer in Zabul, Major General Jamaluddin Sayed, dismissed the locally recruited national police in the province as being under Taliban influence and called for recruitment of police from outside the province.  This is a small example of how Pashtuns are treated in Afghanistan under the watchful eyes of liberators who became imperial. Taliban movement which was a religious movement has now become a Pashtun National movement creating troubles not only in Afghanistan but also in Pakistan.

Conduct of western forces in Pashtun areas is also contributing in strengthening Taliban. Due to conservative nature of Pashtun society and “Enlightened nature” of western culture things are getting bad to worst. Occupational forces treat Pashtuns like all Pashtuns are terrorists and disrespect the cultural values of Pashtun society which further make Pashtuns anti Occupation. Intoxicated in power ISAF especially Americans use over whelming power. As an Urdu proverb says “they kill fly with artillery gun”. May be this is due to Western concepts of war. But this fails in warrior society like Pashtuns and creates more hostility.

Afghan occupation by Americans and their treatment to Pashtuns is taking toll from Pakistan. Pakistan has world’s biggest Pashtun Population. Pakistan wrongly supported western Jihad against Soviets and became ally of Capitalist Block. US and its Capitalist allies throughout cold war used Islamic extremism against Godless communism. As an ally and front line state Pakistan became hub of jihadists.

After the withdrawal of soviets Pakistan alone had to deal with American mess. After the fall of soviets US and Capitalist allies also lost the utility of these extremists.  Soon these allies of America became its enemies and hence Al Qaeda from data base of Jehadies brought to Pakistan became a net work of Militant jihadi’s.

Present ,Post Afghan Invasion has created Real Politik  environment. In this environment different states and actors are fighting or supporting each other to gain their policy ends. Who are these actors and what are their intrests?

In concludeing and final part of this three part essay we will discuss

Obama’s Troops surge, The Greater Game Part 1

Newton’s third law of motion is quite applicable in our social lives. Every action has reactions and every reaction is caused by an action. Every thing which goes up has to come back to original position.

Any student of history knows that historical is in fact a study of humans, their experiences of past. History repeats it’s self. World history is full of stories of great empires which reached greatest point of their greatness and then in end came back to point from where they started, replaced by more determined young nations.

USA is the only Super Power in the contemporary world who alone has global reach to hit and destroy any place on the earth. It’s the power capable of destroying world many times. US exhibited its capabilities during First gulf war, when its bombers flew from US soil .bombed Iraq and went back to their bases without touching the ground. Then again it showed its power and force during Afghan and Iraq Invasions when it’s over whelming fire power and technology surprised the whole world. No power throughout history had so much power and influence which USA has.

US Military consist of 5 main branches namely US Marine Corps, US Army, US Air Force, US Navy and US Coast Guards. As of February 28, 2009 1,454,515 people are on active duty in the military with an additional 848,000 people in the seven reserve components. . According to Wikipedia

US forces are stationed in 38 countries with 820 bases around the world. US Military has 6 unified combatant commands, with their own area of responsibilities to safe guard American political, Economic and Geo Strategic Interests. These commands are

·        United States European Command or EUCOM is responsible for Europe and Israel. It is head Quartered in Germany.

·        US Africa Command or AFRICOM is responsible for Africa .It was established in 2007 and formally activated in October 2008.due to non permission of stationing US troops by African countries currently it is also headquartered in Germany.

  • United States Central Command or CENTCOM is responsible for whole Middle East (Excluding Israel and including Egypt), South and Central Asia. It’s the largest of American Commands and is headquartered in Camp As Sayliyah in Doha, Qatar. This Command is looking after operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • United States Pacific Command or USPACOM Command's sphere of control encompasses the Pacific Ocean from Antarctica at 092° W, north to 8° N, west to 112° W, northwest to 50° N/142° W, west to 170° E, north to 53° N, northeast to 65°30' N/169° W, north to 90° N, the Arctic Ocean west of 169° W and east of 100° E; the People's Republic of China, Mongolia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea, Japan; the countries of Southeast Asia and the southern Asian landmass to the western border of India; the Indian Ocean east and south of the line from the India/Pakistan coastal border west to 068° E, south to 5° S/068° E, west to 5° S/059° E, south to 8° S/059° E, southwest to 11° S/054° E, west to 11° S/042° E, and south along 042° E to Antarctica; Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.”(Wikipedia).It is headquartered in Honolulu in Hawaii.
  • United States Northern Command or USNORTHCOM is responsible for US home land and North America including Gulf of Mexico areas. It was created in 2002 to defend US home land.
  • United States Southern Command or USSOUTHCOM is headquartered in Miami, Florida and is responsible for providing contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation for Central and South America, the Caribbean.

These 6 Unified commands enable US to dominate the world and protect its interests. As discussed earlier the most important unified command amongst these six commands is CENTCOM which is based in Qatar. This command is fighting war inAfghanistan and in Iraq.

Presently more than 71 thousand US troops are involve in occupation of Afghanistan along with 48 thousand NATO forces. Recently US president Barak Obama has announced to send 30 thousand more troops to reinforce the NATO and US troops who are struggling to fight and defeat growing Taliban influence. Afghanistan has become a clash point of interests of different regional and Global powers.

So far, majority of literature written on this subject looks at smaller picture of the region. For example most of European and American discuss American policy and Interests where as they forget that regional powers like Russia who challenged American interests in Georgia last year and some reports suggest that in few engagements Russian troops were engaged by US soldiers in favor of Georgians.

China which is owner of more then 45 % of US treasury bonds and is considered as a future challenger of US global hegemony ,then there is  India who her self dreams of global dominance. Its ex Army Chief General Sundararajan Padmanabhan(200-2002) wrote a fiction story about Indian forces engaging US forces in book, “Writing on the Wall”.India is only Power in the region who wants American and NATO forces to remain in the region because it thinks that US presence will enable her to consolidate its position in Afghanistan which will help her to link Central Asia Via Chahbahar Port, which she has developed in Iran. And Secondly US presence and Attitude with Pashtuns and its pressure on Pakistan to act against Pashtuns in Pakistan will promote Pashtun Nationalism and its decade old dream of cutting Pakistan into peaces will materialize with Pashtun areas coming in Pashtunistan breaking from Pakistan. Indian Arms and Ammunition and TTP links to RAW proves this hypothesis. Any body can search for Pashtunistan on Internet and can find thousands of propaganda Videos and sites interpreting Army actions against Militants as actions against Pashtuns. At this moment US and Indian interests converge but what is in Indian mind any body can guess.

Pakistan  has worlds largest Pashtun Population therefore it cannot afford to displease Pashtuns  it also donot want to have pro Indian anti Pakistan regeme on its westren border. For these reasons majority of People in Pakistan   see American presence with fear and distrust.

Then there is Iran  who helped US against Taliban, but US pro Israeli stand   and conceit and hostile attitude towards it, has made it suspicious and  it also dont want to see US in Afghanistan.

These all countries are major players and all  have very sensitive interests in this battle ground of great game  for riches of Central Asia how will they react to US surge ...will be  very intresting to see.

What are real American Interests in the region? What is the on ground situation? Will US succeed? What might be American strategy and what will be counter moves by other powers? These are the questions which we will try to answer in Part II of the essay.

It's Obama's War Now

By GARY LEUPP

There are now at present some 68,000 U.S. troops and 42,000 allied forces occupying Afghanistan, in league with the Northern Alliance warlords and the corrupt and feeble Karzai regime in Kabul. President Obama clearly wishes to increase the figure and will announce before an audience of West Point cadets Tuesday that he will add over 30,000 more while pushing the Europeans to add 10,000. This will bring the total number of occupation forces to around the level of the Soviet deployment at its peak in the 1980s.

The Soviets were trying to protect the secular government in Afghanistan and to discourage Islamic fundamentalism, a potential threat to the neighboring Soviet Central Asian republics such as Uzbekistan. What is Obama trying to do?

Because make no mistake about it, this is Barack Obama’s war now. With this announcement he will have personally increased the force in Afghanistan by over 50,000 troops in response to appeals from his generals.

Obama’s mantra about the conflict in Afghanistan is that it is a “war of necessity.” But this is really just a version of the neocon “War on Terror” trope, which is to say that it implies that it is the natural, reasonable retaliatory response to the 9-11 attacks. (They started it, after all, so we have to take the war to them.)

But neocon strategy has always required the simplistic conflation of disparate phenomena, and the exploitation of public ignorance and fear, in the execution of policy. Who are they, after all? The invasion of Iraq required the Big Lie that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9-11. The earlier invasion of Afghanistan required the clever sleight-of-hand by which the mainly Saudi Arab but international al-Qaeda was equated with the purely Afghan Taliban. “We don’t distinguish between terrorists and the governments that support them,” Bush declared.

This was almost a boast that the U.S. would be boldly ignorant as a matter of public policy, and a warning to the empirical rationalists of the world that the White House was in the grip of truly simplistic minds and would indeed shamelessly exploit popular Islamophobia as they pleased even as they made elaborate public gestures in support of religious tolerance. (The calculated message was:  Be scared, world, because we’ve got cowboys in power, and hell, we can get kinda crazy when we’re pissed!)

The fact is, there was and is a difference between al-Qaeda, an international jihadist organization that wants to reestablish a global Caliphate and confront the U.S., and the Taliban, which wanted to stabilize Afghanistan under a harsh interpretation of the Sharia but maintain a working relationship with the U.S.  And now, eight years after being toppled, the Taliban are back with a vengeance, demonstrating that they have a real social base. Moreover a Pakistani Taliban has emerged across the border as a direct consequence of the U.S. invasion.

Any number of intelligence reports have pointed out the obvious: more troops just breed more “insurgency.”

Obama’s national security advisor, Gen. James Jones, has stated clearly, “The Al Qaeda presence [in Afghanistan] is very diminished. The maximum estimate is less than 100 operating in the country, no bases, no ability to launch attacks on either us or our allies.” If there had been a “necessity” to destroy al-Qaeda in Afghanistan that matter has been taken care of. What does Obama think necessary to achieve now?

I imagine he will argue that the Taliban must not be allowed to return to power. But doesn’t that mean implicitly acknowledging that they have genuine roots in Afghan, particularly Pashtun society? The best military estimates put the number of Taliban militants at no more than 25,000, with fully-armed fighters around 3,000. There are about 100,000 soldiers in the Afghan National Army (ANA) in addition to all the foreign occupying troops. ANA forces are often described as of “poor quality,” meaning they are illiterate, and mainly attracted by the money. But the Talibs are also generally illiterate and many of them fight largely for the pay as well. Why is it whole provinces like Nuristan have come under Taliban control despite all the counterinsurgency manpower?

Why in attempting to “secure” Helmand province in an anti-Taliban offensive over the summer did the U.S. forces discover that their ANA allies included almost no Pashtuns but were disproportionately Tajiks? Why were U.S. forces unable to dislodge the Taliban from Marjeh, a city of about 50,000 people and hub of the opium trade?

The problem isn’t too few forces.

Were that the case the increasing number of forces over the last several years would have produced a better, not worse, security situation. The problem is the premise that imperialists can re-colonize a country under the pretense of counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency or liberation in the face of mass resistance.

But why is Obama so intent on staying the course in Afghanistan? What is so important about Afghan policy that the Man of Change can’t change it, even when 57 per cent of the people of the U.S. say they want out?

He will say on Tuesday evening, as eloquently as he and his speechmakers can manage the task,  that we simply cannot afford to let Islamist extremists back into power so that they might harbor terrorists who’ll attack the United States.

But recall there was a time when the U.S. State Department was hell-bent to drive a secular government out of Afghanistan---one that wanted to educate girls and establish local clinics and curb the power of the tribal chiefs and mullahs---and determined to assist the most profoundly reactionary forces in Afghanistan with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar at their head in establishing an alternative Islamist regime. Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski thought the pro-Soviet Saur Revolution in 1978, in which left-wing Afghan Army officers staged a coup and the Democratic People’s Party seized power, producing a backlash from the mullahs and tribal chiefs, was a golden Cold War opportunity.

Even before Soviet forces crossed the border in December 1979, the CIA was organizing Afghan and international forces to challenge the leftish government and Brzezinski was urging the fighters to view their struggle as ajihad or Holy War. This continued of course through the eight bloody years of the Reagan administration. The jihadis won, Washington’s friends established a regime in 1993, immediately fell out among themselves plunging the country into Tajik-Pashtun civil war involving the bombing of Kabul (hitherto spared in the fighting). Washington politely distanced itself, having lost interest with the collapse of the Soviet Union, leaving ally Pakistan to deal with the mess.

Pakistan opted to support the Taliban, a force which against the motley backdrop of opium-dealing, boy-raping warlords seemed attractive by virtue of its reputation for moral probity if nothing else.  Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto later explained Islamabad needed to embrace the Taliban to maintain the trade lines through Central Asia. The U.S. kept its distance from the harshly fundamentalist group, which took power in 1996, withholding diplomatic recognition. But it was historically responsible for its inception and the descent of Afghanistan into the disaster of medieval reaction that began with the stoning of adulterous women in soccer stadiums and culminated with the blasting of the Buddhas of Bamiyan in 2001.

The sins of U.S. imperialism in Afghanistan are just staggering. Imagine what might have happened had the U.S. just stayed out of Afghan affairs from the late 1970s and allowed that experiment in secular. reformist government in a highly conservative Muslim society to take its course without billions in arms to precisely the sort of fighters who are being vilified as “Islamic extremists” and “terrorists” today. There may have never been an international CIA-coordinated mujahadeen movement, no young Osama bin Laden persuaded to suspend his studies to head up Arab holy warriors in coordination with the CIA, no total collapse of Afghan society, no “blowback.” Unfortunately people in this country are generally clueless about the recent history of Southwest Asia and the role of U.S. administrations in producing the very problems about which they complain. (I don’t include Obama among these; he knows what he’s doing. Hence total moral culpability.)

The Taliban never invited Osama bin Laden to Afghanistan; he was there when they took power, guest of a warlord who had been hostile to themselves. He had flown in from Sudan, booted out by the government there following a demand from the U.S. The Taliban extended to him the hospitality required by the pashtunwali code, in appreciation for his services in anti-Soviet struggle in the 1980s. But as Alexander Cockburn and Jeffrey St. Clair have documented on this site, from 2000 the Taliban initiated talks in Frankfurt with the EU, facilitated by the Afghan-American businessman Kabir Mohabbat, to transfer bin Laden out of the country. Mohabbat was employed from November by the National Security Council to negotiate with the Taliban about bin Laden’s fate.

The Taliban, who had confined bin Laden and his key aides to his compound at Daronta, 30 miles from Kabul, invited the U.S. to send one of two Cruise missiles as the easiest way to solve the problem but the Clinton administration delayed in taking action. The Bush administration also dispatched Mohabbat repeatedly to Kabul---three times in 2001---to discuss bin Laden.  In other words, at minimum, on can say that the State Department knew, and we should know, and Obama should know, the Taliban and al-Qaeda are two very different things.

So if the president argues that we need to continue the fight with more troops to keep the Taliban down, to prevent Afghanistan from again becoming a center of international terrorism, he’s going to be speaking so much eloquent nonsense.

He will probably not address the recent comment by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the country after Afghanistan itself most victimized by U.S. aggression in the region. Speaking in English Yousef Raza Gilani told reporters:

“Our only concern is that when US sends more troops to Afghanistan’s Helmand area, if there will be influx of militants they will be moving to Balochistan. This is the concern that we already discussed with the US administration, that influx of militants towards Balochistan should be taken care of otherwise that can destabilise Balochistan.

“A stable Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s interest - but at the same time we also do not want our country to be destabilized. We have asked US administration to consult us in case of any paradigm shift in the policy... so that we can formulate our strategy accordingly.”

Balochistan is over 40 per cent of the land area of his country. It is beset with ethnic unrest; some of the majority Balochis resent the fact that they receive few profits from the exploitation of the uranium and copper of their region, and are neglected by Islamabad. There is an armed insurgency led by members of the Bugti tribe. This has some support from educated Pakistanis critical of “Pashtun chauvinism” who accuse the state of trying to keep Balochis backward. (While listed as “terrorist” by the State Department this movement is a separate phenomenon from the Taliban.)

State Department officials have dismissed Pakistani concerns. Isn’t that typical though? They have been dismissing them since the initial invasion in 2001, and as Pakistan becomes more and more destabilized, the U.S. merely repeats its demands for more military cooperation, continues its drone strikes across the border, and pursues its goals in the region in what Islamabad perceives as disregard for its interests. Pakistan has its own problems that policy-makers in the U.S. State Department seem either not to understand or to willfully ignore as it exacerbates them.

And President Obama will not mention that according to the Asia Foundation’s 2009 poll in Afghanistan 56 per cent of respondents say they have some sympathy for the motivations of the armed groups, including the Taliban and Hekmatyar’s outfit, opposing occupation. He won’t note how the PR strategy of depicting this effort as a “liberation” symbolized by the removal of the burqa has been long since quietly shelved, since the burqa is actually back with a vengeance and the warlords upon whom the U.S. must rely to maintain order have always laughed at U.S. proposals for social reform. They know that’s not what the troops are there for.

The U.S. intervened indirectly in Afghanistan in the ‘80s, with no thought for the welfare of the Afghan people and with tragic consequences for them, in order to fight the Soviets and the imagined menace of “communism.” To do that it nurtured a ferocious Islamist extremist trend. There’s never been any acknowledgement of error or apology and don’t expect one. It all made sense at the time from a U.S. imperialist point of view.

What makes sense now, from a U.S. imperialist point of view? Just look at the map. Realize that Afghanistan has no products the U.S. corporate world wants or needs. During the Cold War, Iran, Iraq, Turkey sometimes played crucial roles in U.S. geostrategic thinking but Afghanistan was practically conceded to the Soviet camp even before 1978. It only acquired significance as a Cold War battleground when U.S. strategists realized  (in Brzezinski’s words) that they could “bleed the Soviets…the way they did us in Vietnam.” More recently, it has acquired significance as U.S. energy corporations do global battle with the Russians over access to Caspian Sea natural gas.

At present Europe is dependent on the supply of gas via Russia from the Caspian Sea, principally from Turkmenistan. This gives Moscow enormous political leverage when it comes to such matters as NATO’s decision to admit Georgia or Ukraine. U.S. policy has been to build pipelines from the Caspian avoiding Russia or Iran. Construction of the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) pipeline which will pump the gas straight to the Indian Ocean and on to world markets has been long delayed due to the fighting in Afghanistan.

The pipeline will run through Helmand province, then into Pakistan’s Balochistan. If it all works out, this will represent a highly significant improvement in the geostrategic position of the U.S. in the region, including in the event of another world war (such as might be provoked by a U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and unpredictable repercussions of such action).

But Obama will not be talking about the history of U.S. intervention in Afghanistan, or the feelings of the Afghan people about occupation, or the reactions of the Pakistanis to the unmitigated disaster on their doorstep, or the real geopolitical reasons for U.S. interest in this backward impoverished Central Asian nation that has been “the graveyard of empires” since the time of Alexander the Great.

He will say it’s still a necessary war to defend Americans from terrorist attack. We should recall, once again, the observation of Nazi war criminal Hermann Goering during the Nuremburg trial that while “naturally the common people don’t want war … the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

We should respond: No it’s not necessary! in the streets that day and those following---until we force Obama to end what are now unmistakably his criminal imperialist wars.

Why General McChrystal's Plan Will Fail

By CONN HALLINAN

Before the Obama Administration buys in to General Stanley McChrystal’s escalation strategy, it might spend some time examining the Aug. 12 battle of Dananeh, a scruffy little town of 2,000 perched at the entrance to the Naw Zad Valley in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province.

Dananeh is a textbook example of why counterinsurgency won’t work in that country, as well as a study in military thinking straight out of Lewis Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass.”

According to the U.S., the purpose of the attack was to seize a “strategic” town, cut “Taliban supply lines,” and secure the area for the presidential elections. Taking Dananeh would also “outflank the insurgents,” “isolating” them in the surrounding mountains and forests.

What is wrong with this scenario?

One, the entire concept of a “strategic” town of 2,000 people in a vast country filled with tens of thousands of villages like Dananeh is bizarre.

Two, the Taliban don’t have “flanks.” They are a fluid, irregular force, not an infantry company dug into a set position. “Flanking” an enemy is what you did to the Wehrmacht in World War II.

Three, “Taliban supply lines” are not highways and rail intersections, they’re goat trails.

Four, “isolate” the Taliban in the surrounding mountains and forests? Anyone in the Pentagon ever read the story of Brer Rabbit?  “Please don’t throw me in the briar patch, Brer Fox”?  Mountains and forests are where the Taliban move freely.
It also appears that the Taliban were not the slightest bit surprised when the U.S. showed up. When the Marines helicoptered in at night, all was quiet. At dawn—the Taliban have no night fighting equipment—the insurgents opened up with rockets, mortars, and machine guns. “I am pretty sure they knew of it [the attack] in advance,” Golf Company commander Captain Zachary Martin told the
Associated Press.

Pinned down, the Marines brought in air power and artillery and, after four days of fierce fighting, took the town. But the Taliban had decamped on the third night. The outcome? A chewed up town and 12 dead insurgents, if you accept that there is no difference between an “insurgent” and a villager who didn’t get out in time, so that all the dead are automatically members of the Taliban.

“I’d say we’ve gained a foothold for now, and it’s a substantial one that we’re not going to let go,” says Martin. “I think this has the potential to be a watershed.”

Only if hallucinations become the order of the day.

The battle of Dananeh was a classic example of irregular warfare. The locals tip off the guerrillas that the army is coming. The Taliban set up an ambush, fight until the heavy firepower comes in, then slip away.

“Taliban fighters and their commanders have escaped the Marines’ big offensive into Afghanistan’s Helmand province and moved into areas to the west and north, prompting fears that the U.S. effort has just moved the Taliban problem elsewhere,” writes Nancy Youssef of the McClatchy newspapers.

When the Taliban went north they attacked German and Italian troops.
In short, the insurgency is adjusting. “To many of the Americans, it appeared as if the insurgents had attended something akin to the U.S. Army’s Ranger school, which teaches soldiers how to fight in small groups in austere environments,” writes Karen DeYoung of the
Washington Post.

Actually, the Afghans have been doing that for some time, as Greeks, Mongols, British, and Russians discovered.

One Pentagon officer told the Post that the Taliban has been using fighting in the Korengal Valley that borders Pakistan as a training ground. It’s “a perfect lab to vet fighters and study U.S. tactics,” he said, and to learn how to gauge the response time for U.S. artillery, air strikes, and helicopter assaults. “They know exactly how long it takes before…they have to break contact and pull back.”

Just like they did at Dananeh.

General McChrystal has asked for 40,000 new troops in order to hold the “major” cities and secure the population from the Taliban. But even by its own standards, the plan is deeply flawed. According to the military’s “Counterinsurgency Field Manuel, one needs a ratio of 20 soldiers for every 1,000 residents. Since Afghanistan is slightly over 32 million, that would require a force of 660,000 soldiers.

The U.S. will shortly have 68,000 troops in Afghanistan, plus a stealth surge of 13,000 support troops. If 40,000 additional troops are sent, that will bring U.S. forces to 121,000. Added to that are 35,000 NATO troops, though most alliance members are under increasing domestic pressure to withdraw their soldiers. McChrystal wants to expand the Afghan army to 240,000, and there is talk of trying to reach 340,000.

One does not need a calculator to conclude that the counterinsurgency formula—even with the larger Afghan army—is 150,000 soldiers short.

And can you really count on the Afghan army? It may indeed reach 340,000—although it doesn’t have the officers and sergeants to command those numbers— but the counterinsurgency formula calls for “trained” troops, not just armed boots on the ground. And according to a recent review, up to 25 percent of recruits quit each year, and the number of trained units has actually declined over the past six months.
On top of which, it is not a national army. If Pashtun soldiers are deployed in the Tajik-speaking north, they will be seen as occupiers, and vice-versa for Tajiks in Pashtun areas. If both groups are deployed in their home territories, the pressures of kinship will almost certainly overwhelm any allegiance to a national government, particularly one as corrupt and unpopular as the current Karzai regime.

And by defending the cities, exactly whom will U.S. troops be protecting? When it comes to Afghanistan, “major” population centers are almost a contradiction in terms. There are essentially five cities in the country, Kabul (2.5 million), Kandahar (331,000), Mazar-e-Sharif (200,000), Herat (272,000), and Jalalabad (20,000). Those five cities make up a little more than 10 percent of the population, over half of which is centered in Kabul. The rest of the population is rural, living in towns of 1500 or fewer, smaller even than Dananeh.

But spreading the troops into small firebases makes them extremely vulnerable, as the U.S. found out in early September when eight soldiers were killed in an attack on a small unit in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province. The base was abandoned a week later and, according to the Asia Times, is now controlled by the Taliban.

While McChrystal says he wants to get the troops out of “armored vehicles” and into the streets with the people, the U.S. will have to use patrols to maintain a presence outside of the cities. On occasion, that can get almost comedic. Take the convoy of Stryker light tanks that set out Oct. 12 from “Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak” in Khandar province for what was described as a “high-risk mission into uncharted territory.”

The convoy was led by the new Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles designed to resist the insurgent’s weapon-of-choice in Afghanistan, roadside bombs. But the MRAP was designed for Iraq, which has lots of good roads. Since Afghanistan has virtually no roads, the MRAPs broke down. Without the MRAPs the Strykers could not move. The “high-risk” mission ending up hunkering down in the desert for the night and slogging home in the morning. They never saw an insurgent.

Afterwards, Sergeant John Belajac remarked, “I can’t imagine what it is going to be like when it starts raining.”

If you are looking for an Afghanistan War metaphor, the Spin Boldak convoy may be it.

McChrystal argues that the current situation is “critical,” and that an escalation “will be decisive.” But as former Defense Intelligence Agency analyst A.J. Rossmiller says, the war is a stalemate. “The insurgency does not have the capability to defeat U.S. forces or depose Afghanistan’s central government, and…U.S. forces do not the ability to vanquish the insurgency.”

While the purported goal of the war is denying Al-Qaeda a sanctuary, according to U.S. intelligence the organization has fewer than 100 fighters in the country. And further, the Taliban’s leader, Mullah Omar, pledges that his organization will not interfere with Afghanistan’s neighbors or the West, which suggests that the insurgents have been learning about diplomacy as well.

The Afghanistan War can only be solved by sitting all the parties down and working out a political settlement. Since the Taliban have already made a seven-point peace proposal, that hardly seems an insurmountable task.

Anything else is a dangerous illusion.

How Fazalullah escaped to Afghanistan?

“In time of war the loudest patriots are the greatest profiteers. (AUGUST BEBEL)

Pakistan Army concluded its Operation Rah e Rast against Tehrik e Taliban Swat in earlier June this year and destroyed TTP infrastructure and Command and Control system in Swat, Shangla, Dir and Malakand. During operation Army Captured or killed Majority of TTP Swat Main leadership which including Shah Doran, Commander Qassab and Muslim Khan Etc .unfortunately Amir TTP Swat was able to slip away to Afghanistan.

Yesterday Abdul Hai Kakar of BBC broke the story that he was contacted by Molvi Fazalullah, Amir of TTP Swat from Afghan Number. According to Abdul Hai Kakar he clearly recognized Fazalullah’s Voice

"I have reached Afghanistan safely," Maulana Fazlullah told BBC Urdu.

"We are soon going to launch full-fledged punitive raids against the army in Swat."

The voice was recognizably Maulana Fazalullah’s - he has a very distinct way of pronouncing words.

I have spoken to him on several occasions and met him twice.

Maulana Fazalullah was calling from an Afghan number and sounded in good spirits when he called on Monday.

According to Abdul Hai Kakar, Fazalullah told him that he was in mountains and that was the reason for bad signals. Hai said in Express News’s program Centre stage with Fahd Hussain” that he tried many time to re contact him on the number but due to bad signals he failed. He also said that he had met Fazalullah many times and he is 100 % sure that the man was Fazalullah and the number on CLI was that of an Afghan cellular company.

On 31st October I wrote in my essay War on Terror, What's going on? I wrote about reports coming from Nuristan Province of Afghanistan, where Afghan Taliban Commander Zai ur Rehman is in full control after the withdrawal of American forces. Zia ur Rehman is also inviting Taliban from Mohmand, Bajor and Swat to take refuge in his area.

According to Asia times correspondent Syed Saleem Shahzad

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, a militant linked to Rehman said that now that they had control of Nuristan, the militants are "marching towards Mohmand and Bajor to help their fellow Taliban fighting against Pakistani troops", referring to two tribal agencies across the border.

According to report filed by BBC Urdu’s Abdul Hai Kakar it is now being confirmed that if at all report is true then Fazalullah is in Nuristan which has mountainous terrain. The same province where US troops left in such Hurry that

A US-based website, the Long War Journal, has documented in detail [1] that the Taliban are openly and unchallenged governing the province. The report cited al-Jazeera footage that showed the Taliban had also appointed a governor, Dost Muhammad. According to the footage, the Taliban had US arms, which they had seized from abandoned American bases. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization confirmed that the arms showed in the footage belonged to US forces.

Coming back to Nuristan where TTP Militants are regrouping and finding sanctuary with Afghan Taliban, first we have to find out what kind of Taliban dwell in Nuristan and Northern Part of NWFP province of Pakistan.

Nuristan has always been Strong hold of Salfi militants. During Afghan Soviets war. Majority of Arabs were based in this area. Zai ur Rehman himself according to Asia Times correspondent Syed Saleem Shahzad

Zia ur, in his early thirties, was raised in the camps of Arab militants, who instilled in him the passion to fight against the Americans - not only in Afghanistan, but across the globe.

Mixture of Salfism and Deobandism gave rise to PUNJPIRI Ideology. Panjpiri Taliban is a cult of Taliban. Most Taliban from Bajor and Swat belong to this school of thought. This school of Thought originated from Nuristan Province of Afghanistan. A Cleric from Afghanistan brought this ideology to Panjpir Swabi. Panjpiries, although call themselves Deo-bandi Sunnies but in practice are more strict then Salfies. Most Taliban who came back to Pakistan from Afghanistan after US invasion belonged to this school of thought. Molvi Faqir Muhammad renamed his area as Panjpir to show his respect to the madrassa and school. Faqir Muhammad and Fazalullah and their men in Swat and Bajor are all Punjpiries.

US withdrawal and current emerging situation raises many serious questions about the American game in the region. US withdrew from Nuristan--- it is understandable due to their less number---but they left their arms and ammo behind! It’s some thing un-digestible. US army is one brave professional army. There are two possible scenarios which can answer why they left their weapons behind.

· They were desperate to leave their bases and were afraid of Taliban

· They intentionally left their weapons to be used by Taliban, who they knew are ideologically closer to TTP Swat, Bajor and Mohmand. Hence allowing Pakistani Taliban to re group and train their new cadre and also creating pressure on Pakistan and creating excuse to pressurize and Black mail Pakistan to gain American strategic interests. Which are de nucleaize Pakistan and make it US dependent?

There are couple of evidence and Published reports in foreign as well as Pakistani media which supports second hypothesis. I will only give three examples and will leave on readers to decide them selves’ what’s happening.

Pakistan Army Started operation Rah e Nijat against TTP Head Quarter South Waziristan Agency to eliminate—capture or kill TTP leadership and base. Around Two Division army started the operation Rah e Nijat Phase 2 on 17th Oct 2009 with support of Pakistan Air Force and Gunship helicopters. It was moral duty of US to seal Pakistan Afghan Border on the opposite side of NWA and SWA. After all Pakistan is ally of US in war against terror ---- but what American and Nato did---- in words of Qudssia Akhlaque

ISLAMABAD: The US-led Nato forces vacated more than half a dozen key security checkposts on the Afghan side of the Pak-Afghan border just ahead of the major Pakistan Army ground offensive (code named: Rahe Nijaat) against Taliban-led militants in the volatile tribal area of South Waziristan, it is learnt.
It is feared that the American decision will facilitate Afghan Taliban in crossing over to Pakistan and support militants in striking back at the Pakistani security forces in the troubled tribal area.

Sources close to the NWFP government and military strategists involved in the planning of S Waziristan operation told The News over the weekend that the Americans vacated eight security checkposts on the Afghan side of the border just five days before the Army operation. Four of these close to South Waziristan including one each at Zambali and at Nurkha, and four in the north in the area of Nuristan where American forces recently came under violent attacks by the militants.

Latest reports indicate that the Americans have also removed some posts close to North Waziristan, which could encourage even more Afghan Taliban fighters to cross over to the Pakistan side. This has raised many eye brows in government and military circles with points being made about “conflicting interests” and dubious American designs.

Interestingly immediately after the start of Operation Rah e Nijat reports started coming that an identified Helicopters landed SWA before 17th Oct and heli lifted the militant leadership and took it to Afghanistan.

Islamabad: Mysterious airlifting of some Taliban elements from areas of Pakistan-Afghanistan border linking Waziristan have been reported by several sources and fears are growing that anti-Pakistan TTP terrorists are also being rescued by their “foreign allies” from across the border.

The unexplained movements of “un-marked” helicopters and aircraft have been reported since last few days along Pak-Afghan border and one source claimed that they were being transported to the Eastern Afghanistan.

Pakistan Army’s Ex Chief General Mirza Aslam Baig also claimed the same in programs in ARY and few other channels. Another reputed Daily also reported that

Some experts believe that secret allies of friendly-Talibans took the action in order to secure the militants from an assault in South Waziristan by Pakistani Armed Forces while others believe the secret evacuation was part of a larger deal between some Western States and “good Taliban.”

The airlifting and evacuation of TTP leaders from South Waziristan coincided with a report by foreign news media or a similar mysterious evacuation of “militants” from South Afghanistan to North Afghanistan.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai and few other Important Afghan officials have accused that

President Karzai suggested the reports of helicopters delivering terrorists to north Afghanistan were true, saying, “We have received reliable reports from our intelligence service. We have received reliable reports from our people, and today I received a report that these efforts [to transfer Taliban fighters] are also being made mysteriously in the northwest. The issue of helicopters has also been proved. We do not make any more comments now and investigations are under way to see to whom and to which foreign country these helicopters belong” (Tolo TV, October 11). According to Karzai, the “unknown” helicopters had been taking Taliban fighters to Baghlan, Kunduz and Samangan provinces in northern Afghanistan. The president’s remarks were quickly followed by a call from the Lower House speaker, Muhammad Yunis Qanuni, for a government debate on the issue. “When the president of Afghanistan, as the first man of the country, is raising a fact and a problem, then it shows that the problem is important and serious.” According to Takhar MP Habiba Danesh, the helicopter airlifts were already underway before the elections (Tolo TV [Kabul], October 13; Ferghana.ru, October 12; Hasht-e Sobh [Kabul], October 13). (Terrorism Monitor Volume: 7 Issue: 33)

Now when Fazalullah has Him self contacted BBC from Afghanistan, and we know that Provinces of Nuristan and kunar are under occupation of Takfiri Panjpiri Taliban. We also know that US has Vacated its posts and although their was a very tight blockade around NWA and SWA but still Militants managed to escape.

We also Know Pakistan has sacrificed more then NATO Soldiers combined and that instead of talking Pakistan has given results, Majority of Pakistanies like me are asking questions who is sincere and who is just playing games.

I will finish this essay on this beautiful quote of GEORGE WASHINGTON

I do not mean to exclude altogether the idea of patriotism. I know it exists, and I know it has done much in the present contest. But I will venture to assert, that a great and lasting war can never be supported on this principle alone. It must be aided by a prospect of interest, or some reward”.

AGAIN NATION OF 160 MILLION FOOLS

NOTE
(I am republishing my essay " AGAIN NATION OF 160 MILLION FOOLS" because it is as relevent today as it was in March this year)

some peole will find this eassy confuseing.... It is....becuse a common man is confus and some what irritated... friend with good english taste are advised not to Read... BUT FRIEND WHO READ ARE ENCOURAGED TO COMMENT...

---------------------------------------------------

Iftikhar Muhammad Ch. is back

Now justice will return...every thing will be fine

Suicide bombings and terrorism will end...

PPP govt has done it again....

No its work of PML Nawaz, APDM and lawyers......

Pakistan will become paradise

SYSTEM HAS BEEN SAVED....

What the fuck....
System is safe now ...but a system where canabalize  all...

Our elite is very clever..... It knows how to safeguard their interests..

As journalists working in Pakistan’s most popular Media net work, I regularly meet a common Pakistani...who is frustrated and hopeless.... I can feel their pain of day to day life.... every day I hear new stories of tears and grief’s.....

Atta for Roti is 450 RS per 20 KG bag, Chicken RS 116/ KG, that to live... when I go out with my wife for weekly shopping 3 four thousand vanishes for common vegetable, fruit etc...
I earn 25000 and live in my fathers house.....but I am economically depressed.... when I think about having children new fears come to my mind...how will I afford...I cannot earn dirty money which most of our journalists earn... I know after 10 years if things remain same I will be a lower class man...hand to mouth....

System is not cause of life in our society but of moral death. This system supports corrupt  and kills the honest.

I belong to middle class but when I think about Sajjid or khan Sahib , on whose Rickshaws I travel to office....my frustration turns into anger....
This  great system which is Safe now... thanks to intervention of USA and Army...is Raping the very common man which it is suppose to protect....

Sajjid and Khan Saab are just samples amongst 160 million fools....they earn 15000 per month and from this 15000 had to pay challans, traffic wardens and of course where tare of their vehicle and of course support their families.... they come to Lahore from as far as Mohmand agency and Southern Punjab to earn more, than they earn in their native towns and villages... from their earning they send money to their old parents and families... they find life more miserable then hell....

But what about those who have no rickshaw ...or business.... the Mazdoor or common laborer.....who earn just 160 per day i.e. below 5000 Rs.... hell .... Will this saved system bring dollars for him... andWill his life in future be great....

Leaders of my nation (I don’t reckon any one of them) Say "CJ will bring justice and Justice will bring prosperity"....wow ....great...but was a common man getting prosperous when CJ was in office....no
(btw after the restoration of judecery leaders have forgotten common man, they are more intrested in Kerry Luger bill , NRO and 17th ammendment , Thanks to Al mighty they them selves are exposeing their real faces)

lol

Then what was this justice movement all about??????????

Yea...you are right ...to save system.....

To save system from revolution.....

Have any body amoungst us ever wondered why a teenager agrees to become human bomb?

Or why an educated youngster agrees to commit robberies and street crimes.....

Jokers who love this system blames it on mullah, India, or United states....or  Feudal system to which most politicians belong....

are they responsible?.... to some extent yes....

In our society where there are three standards...first for elite, second for middle and last for lower.... which provides best incubatingenviroment to create frustration....

I have a beard...but I am journalist... when ever police stops me ....my Card and occupation make them give me respect...but on the same Naaka(police cheak post) a common Pakistani is disgraced like an animal.....

I belong to middle class , my Father is an ex army officer.... so i had luxary of attending best army schools.... due to which I got job easily ....but I have seen hundreds of men and women better then me... job less or with jobs which earn them less than 7000 per month....

Once my father told me about a Boy with M.Com first div who came to his office for job .to become security guard... upon my fathers refusal he said sir i have two sisters and sick parents... tomorrow if i die in police encounter or get arrested for robbery or other crime ....you and this system will be responsible....

Coming back to terrorism.... can any sane man go for becoming suicide bomber????? NO AND YES

If their is justice....when there are no three standards.... when i know i will get what i sweat for... then never
And when student of LUMS will be taken equivalent to Punjab university student and will be judged on his merit.... then no.....no one will ever think to become a bomber

but when, like Ahmed Ali.... who is security Guard in my colony.... from Rajan Pur .... had to weep for justice in front of police ....to beg justice for his raped sister by land lord... and get cursed and kicked out of police station by SHO...then to beg again to poor journalist like me to help him out ... then yes people will become terrorists....

when people have to stop for hours on signals because Prime minister SAAB had to pass from there...then yes people will become....

when a 60 years Amma with 104 degree temperature have to come to work to clean utensils with cold water in cold winter of Lahore ...just to earn 600 Rs /month...then yes terrorists will born

And yes when Son of minister will be forgiven for every crime and son of common will be punished for crimes he never committed ...then yes

People say now every thing will be all right... what bloody all right.

people of Pakistan are and were getting frustrated and hope less...common man was talking about revolution.... when at last people were getting fedup of Mullah, aristocracy ...elite allience of Rapeing them alternately...Three big giants decided to depressurize and bring stability to save SYSTEM.... Nawaz sherif who was was disqualified along with his brother....  took over long march... frustrated foolish people who were convinced by their leaders and media(in hand of big busniss tycoons) that CJ reinstalment will bring them hope.... joined them and this movement succeeded...people think they won...but I bet they soon will realize this DAJJALI ELITISTIC SYSTEM WON...Elite has successfully de pressurized the atmosphere

NOW NRO, RECONCILLIATION will happen..... And groups with in elite will enjoy the benefits of this suffocating system

Ahmed Ali will beg for ever.... Amma will die washing utensils..... Zaid, baker will go for extremism.... Fayyaz will become dacoit after his MA ... and there will be peace and prosperity in Pakistan.

All Pakistan is a jungle
Every Pakistani has become a whore
Elite Rape the country
And we all act like a fool
Some sell religion, some sell dreams
Nation is dieing hungry and they are eating cream
Inter Elite conflicts, democracy and rule of law, all are their fraud
Government of elite for the elite by the elite is a big fraud.
They live in AC and we don’t even get fan
They travel in luxury cars which we never can
Their children study at Harvard when our children have no school
Tears and tears only for NATION OF 160 MILLION FOOL

US Is Doing No Good in Afghanistan

BY
Malalai Joya

As
an Afghan woman who was elected to Parliament, I am in the United States to ask President Barack Obama to immediately end the occupation of my country.

Eight years ago, women's rights were used as one of the excuses to start this war. But today, Afghanistan is still facing a women's rights catastrophe. Life for most Afghan women resembles a type of hell that is never reflected in the Western mainstream media.

In 2001, the U.S. helped return to power the worst misogynist criminals, such as the Northern Alliance warlords and druglords. These men ought to be considered a photocopy of the Taliban. The only difference is that the Northern Alliance warlords wear suits and ties and cover their faces with the mask of democracy while they occupy government positions. But they are responsible for much of the disaster today in Afghanistan, thanks to the U.S. support they enjoy.

The U.S. and its allies are getting ready to offer power to the medieval Taliban by creating an imaginary category called the "moderate Taliban" and inviting them to join the government. A man who was near the top of the list of most-wanted terrorists eight years ago, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, has been invited to join the government.

Over the past eight years the U.S. has helped turn my country into the drug capital of the world through its support of drug lords. Today, 93 percent of all opium in the world is produced in Afghanistan. Many members of Parliament and high ranking officials openly benefit from the drug trade. President Karzai's own brother is a well known drug trafficker.

Meanwhile, ordinary Afghans are living in destitution. The latest United Nations Human Development Index ranked Afghanistan 181 out of 182 countries. Eighteen million Afghans live on less than $2 a day. Mothers in many parts of Afghanistan are ready to sell their children because they cannot feed them.

Afghanistan has received $36 billion of aid in the past eight years, and the U.S. alone spends $165 million a day on its war. Yet my country remains in the grip of terrorists and criminals. My people have no interest in the current drama of the presidential election since it will change nothing in Afghanistan. Both Karzai and Dr. Abdullah are hated by Afghans for being U.S. puppets.

The worst casualty of this war is truth. Those who stand up and raise their voice against injustice, insecurity and occupation have their lives threatened and are forced to leave Afghanistan, or simply get killed.

We are sandwiched between three powerful enemies: the occupation forces of the U.S. and NATO, the Taliban and the corrupt government of Hamid Karzai.

Now President Obama is considering increasing troops to Afghanistan and simply extending former President Bush's wrong policies. In fact, the worst massacres since 9/11 were during Obama's tenure. My native province of Farah was bombed by the U.S. this past May. A hundred and fifty people were killed, most of them women and children. On Sept. 9, the U.S. bombed Kunduz Province, killing 200 civilians.

My people are fed up. That is why we want an immediate end to the U.S. occupation.

WHERE ARE THE SOLDIERS OF TTP?

Operational Map

Operation Rah e Nijat has entered 4th week today, so far except in one or two places we have seen TTP fighter melting away and giving no resistance. In Past three weeks 400 plus militants were killed and forces suffered less then forty casualties.

Forces have captured and cleared Laddah, Sararoga, Kot kai and Kunigram, which were important bases of TTP terrorists and their Al Qaeda Allies. Today forces have also entered Makeen, which was where Baitullah Mahsud got killed. Forces have discovered large amount of Russian and Indian Ammunition, Hundreds of hide outs and caves used by Militants. Pakistani forces have linked each other from all three axisis from where they started their offensive. Encirclement of extremists is now complete. Now they will be pushing the TTP and Al Qaeda terrorists in center into the designated killing zone to kill maximum militants.

According to reports resistance is only being given by foreign fighters. Local Taliban have either escaped to Kurram or Aurak zai or are not getting into fight with forces. It is also becoming visible that Majority of Mahsuds ,were supporting TTP due to coercion from hardcore militants and foreign elements especially Uzbeks. Now when nearly all leadership has went underground and their bases are in control of forces these Mahsuds are free from TTP coercion and are not fighting a war which they never wanted to fight.

TTP leadership it self appears to be confuse by the resistance its forces is showing. Hakeem Ullah in a massage to his fighter has said, as reported by associated press

Do not look for excuses to run away from the fighting, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Hakeemullah Mehsud told his fighters on Thursday. “Remember, this is the commandment of God that once fighting starts with the enemy, you cannot leave the battlefield without permission from your commander,” he told the Taliban in a speech, broadcast on Tuesday over a wireless radio network. Those who do run away, he warned, “such people will go to hell.” “We are in jihad and we should not pay heed to the whispers of Satan,” Mehsud said. ap

According to Colonel Ikram Sehgal, Editor of Defense Journal, the hard core Taliban were not more then 1500 to 2000 they had support of nearly 1500 Uzbeks, Chechens and Arabs. It makes total enemy force near to 3000 fighters. The assessment of forces about TTP militants was some where between 15000 to 20000, which was based on intelligence assessment, which counted the civilians coerced in to becoming Taliban as TTP fighters.

Defeating TTP is not as simple as many of us belive. To defeat TTP we have to break each and every thread of its network because if we want to   understand what force  TTP is,  we have to realize that it’s a network of 20 to 30 extremist organizations. It’s not like a conventional force with bases in which troops are concentrated. The out fits which make TTP have their own strong areas. In many cases these different out fits have ideological and personal disputes amongst each other. For example Taliban from Swat are very different from those in Waziristan. Taliban of Bajor follows Panjpiri ideology which is amalgam of extreme Deobandi and Salfi ideology. TTP SWA is more criminal then a other Jihadi out fits. Similarly TTP Aurak Zai and Kurram, Al though belongs to Hakeem ullah Mahsud out fit is more sectarian then TTP Mohmand or Bajor or SWAT.

It is not realistic to think that clearing SWA is going to eliminate terrorism in Pakistan. In fact it will have very minute effect. At present there are three areas which have emerged as important militant strong holds amongst them Aurak zai and Kurram Agency have Taliban training infrastructure where as South Punjab especially Bhakkar, DG Khan and Rojhan have ideal conditions for recruitment of extremists.

Recovered Indian Weapons

Some analysts think to make operation successful forces must kill or capture TTP top leadership includeing Hakeem Ullah Mahsud, Qari Hussain and Wali Ur Rehman Mahsud. By killing or capturing them, will provide conditions similar to the conditions which Pakistan failed to exploit fully when Baitullah Mahsud was killed in August this year.

Some analysts are saying that Hakeem ullah Mahsud is not in SWA. He escaped to Aurak Zai where his in-laws live.  If that’s true then Aurak Zai should be next Target.

One more thing which has become clear is that US presence in Afghanistan is the biggest reason for militancy in the region. Colletral damage caused by US and NATO and damage done due to Pashtun genocide is cause of resurgence of Taliban in Afghanistan and TTP in Pakistan. TTP was no where prior to American occupation of Afghanistan, By not   understanding Afghan culture and values and  then devising proper strategy Americans have  played in the hands of India and Northern Alliance

Tribals in FATA and NWFP were bound to help their brothers who were prosecuted in Afghanistan. US and NATO failed to understand basic fact that without addressing Pashtun grievances US and world community’s efforts were meaningless.

Now when Barak Obama is in white house, US leadership is trying to take steps in positive direction. Recognizing Hamid Karzai as Legitimately elected President of Afghanistan and efforts for Negotiations with Afghan Taliban are steps in right direction.

In Afghanistan when US is taking right directions, Pakistan has become victim of American Policy effects. Now when Pakistan is on fire, without apology to Pakistani nation, US is admitting that it’s responsible for mess it created.

Clearly, Al Qaeda left Afghanistan. And we let them out, she told Greta Van Susteren of FOX News. You know, we should have taken them out when we had the chance back in 2001 and 2002 and they escaped. And they escaped into Pakistan.

Asked if the US was also responsible for Al Qaeda’s presence in Fata, Secretary Clinton acknowledged that if the US had done a better job in Afghanistan, Al Qaeda would not have slipped into Pakistan.

If we had done a better job going into Afghanistan and capture the people who had attacked us or killed them you know, we would be in a different position,’ she said.

Peshawer Blast in Women Market Killed more than 117 Civillians

On other hand Afghan Taliban has also rejected offer by US for negotiations. Mullah Brader Akhund in interview with CNN in clear words said

"This war will come to an end when all invaders leave our country,"

If Obama administration is really interested in eliminating de-stability in the region then it should give time table for troop pull out from Afghanistan. Analysts say that US and NATO presence in the region is the biggest source of de-stability in the region. So far Pakistan has given lots of sacrifices for American ego and intrests. We have fought Extremists in Bajor, Malakand and SWA and defeated them. But our success is not getting effects because Pashtuns are Pashtuns and after religion they follow their thousands of year old code of conduct Pashtun wali . Some time Pashtunwali over comes their religous obligations. They are simple but traditional. Talibanization is only possible in Pashtun tribal areas and they cannot force it in settled areas and both Americans and Taliban knows it.

By disturbing Pashtun tribal culture an amalgam of Religious fanatics, Nationalists and criminal elements has come out as Tehrik Taliban Pakistan. If US and NATO Leaves Afghanistan Pashtun nationalists and Religious extremists will settle down and criminal element will be easily neutralized.

Any one who has research on Taliban knows Taliban has local agenda. They fought only in Afghanistan. Their movement under went many Phases. During first Phase they were reactionary force against Land and Drug lords. Then they became Pashtun nationalists who claimed Islam to be their ideological base but followed PashtunWali more then Islam. Then Al Qaeda was introduced by courtesy of Barhanuddin Rabbani of Northern Alliance who became ally of Taliban due to money and superior ideology but still Taliban remained in Limits of Afghanistan.

The real enemy of world peace was and is Al Qaeda and Takfiri ideology. But according to Hillary Clinton it managed to escape from Afghanistan. It came to Pakistan but due to Pakistani military operations is now running to Somalia and Yeman . It means the aim of war in Afghanistan has been achieved. US and NATO should leave Afghanistan and head for Somalia and Yeman or afford the region to destabilize further and sow more seeds of hatred in hearts of the people dwelling here.

The paper analysts who are more Islam phobic or Pakistan phobic are trying their best to mislead their people. I have always advocated to Strategic Culture theory in understanding regional problems.

Understand the culture then act and you will win hearts and minds along with ground. Stop pursuing your so called strategic interests which are making people suffer in other parts of the world. God has Blessed America and west be thank full to his kindness don’t be a curse for other fellows who see you as elder brother and when you fail to act like one they become reactionary.

War on Terror, What's going on?

Operation Rah e Nijat phase 2 which started on 17 October has entered in to third week. In two weeks forces have cleared many strategic areas from Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan and its foreign affiliates and allies. Pakistan army has cleared Sherwangi, Kunigram, Kot Kai home town of TTP chief Hakeem ullah Mahsud and Qari Hussain,Father of Suicide bombing in Pakistan .

Forces are closing in from 3 sides i.e. from Razmak, Jandola and Wana. Taliban are on the run and forces are forcing them in to designate killing zone for final battle. But what are our dear friends and allies in this War on Terror doing to help us?

Our dear old friend USA is adding fuel into our miseries. At one side it is providing us some gadgetry to fight extremists so that we remain under its influence, on other doing all to make us suffer for its imperial sins.

For example, our forces cleared Swat and Malakand few months ago. We killed and destroyed TTP swat Strongholds and Leadership and forced the remnants to escape.

Similarly our troops broke back bone of TTP Bajor during operation Sherdil. Our friends in Afghanistan also launched Operation Lion Heart in adjoining Afghan Area.

Lion Heart was planned following US and Pakistani intelligence reports that the Taliban bases in Mohmand and Bajaur and in Nuristan and Kunar fed into a network that went on to the Taghab Valley in Kapisa province,

There was a Time when Pakistan advocated that Taliban cannot be destroyed with use of force alone and that due to senseless use of force by US and NATO Taliban movement is changing into Pashtun National struggle. Pakistani government advocated in negotiations with Taliban and through negotiations bringing them near to International community and driving them away from Al Qaida.

At that time American Hawks interpreted as weakness on Part of Pakistan. But now when whole region is in mess US has it self changed its strategy.

According to Asia Time on line, US forces have vacated Nuristan Province.

The United States has withdrawn its troops from its four key bases in Nuristan, on the border with Pakistan, leaving the northeastern province as a safe haven for the Taliban-led insurgency to orchestrate its regional battles.

According to reports US forces withdrew from the province according to understanding reached by them and Panjpiri Taliban group led by Molvi Zia ur Rehman. Taliban gave American troops safe passage and protection during this with drawl. He is the same Zia Ur Rehman who gave offer to Molvi Faqir Muhammad TTP deputy Chief to come for refuge few days ago before American with drawl.

Ziaur Rehman’s spokes man told Asia Time correspondent

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, a militant linked to Rehman said that now that they had control of Nuristan, the militants are "marching towards Mohmand and Bajor to help their fellow Taliban fighting against Pakistani troops", referring to two tribal agencies across the border.

There are also reports that Militants who escaped from Operation Rah e Rast in Swat and Malakand and those who escaped from Bajor are regrouping under the patronage of Ziaur Rehman in Nuristan province of Afghanistan. These Regrouped Taliban are Planning to launch offensive during winter when due to snow fall roads will be closed for supply to Pakistani forces.

Its only a promo of  what Americans have done in North , now coming to south , It has been reported in media that immediately after Pakistani Forces started Ground offensive against TTP in South Waziristan, American forces abandoned their posts and withdrew . At a time when we started cleaning the Stronghold of Taliban and Al Qaeda which Americans them selves wanted  us to clean from Past  few years is some thing which no sane mind can understand. It appears they wanted Taliban and Al Qaeda safe route to escape by removing these check posts.

Pakistani Forces have recovered again US, Russian and Indian weapons from South Waziristan. How incompetent Americans are that they cannot control the flow of their weapons and those of its allies to reach terrorists?

There is also a shocking news, the Indian FM Radio channels in Afghan side are propagating worst anti Pakistan propaganda in Pashtu. Readers can search that Afghan and Indian agencies propagated Pakistani Operations against Taliban as Operations against Pashtuns. At a time when efforts should be to win people against extremists Indians under the WATCH FULL EYES OF US are trying to make things hard.

Americans know what is the effect of their drone attacks amongst the people of Pakistan. Any sane friend can understand that every drone attack brings more troubles for government. War on terror as I understand is also war to win Minds. US is helping us to lose this war for minds by aiding terrorists indirectly.

In south Afghanistan, US forces are negotiating with Taliban commander Mullah Barader which he has rejected. No one has asked the government of USA that what happened to Operation Khanjer? What progress it made? And why they are negotiating with Taliban when they strongly opposed Pakistan to do same?

The only Problem in Afghanistan is US of A. it’s their presence and their conceit attitude towards native Population which has destabilized the whole region. They backed War and Drug lords which brought ordinary Afghan near to extremists, for killing one militant they killed dozen innocents. They forced Pashtuns into extremism. Now when things are getting out of hands they want negotiation. They want to drive Afghans into ethnic civil war. The runoff between Abdullah Abdullah and Hamid Karzai and US backing to Abdullah Abdullah is one step forward to destroy remaining unity in Afghan society.

All things are going as planned. In Iraq Civil War helped removing pressure from American forces because Iraqis started fighting each other. Same is coming to AfghanistanAccording to Reports Price of AK 47 has reached $600 in Tajik areas due to rise in demand Abdullah Abdullah Faction is fully prepared to start new Pashtun genocide. Tajik will kill Pashtun and vice versa and divide and rule policy will again prove to be best for imperials to control.
